Paranormal Encounter in Cincinnati

A few weeks ago, after a 30 year hiatus, I had my second paranormal encounter. While my first experience left me I confused and unsure. This one had the opposite effect and I am now ready to face these things head on.

My first encounter shook me to the core, I grew up in an old farm house in Springfield Township. This house always made noise, windows would draft, and with a large family and large dogs, footsteps at night were not a concern. I always felt extremely uncomfortable in the basement, and never spent much time in there, no one in my family ever did. One night I was asleep when I was awaken by what I thought was a dog barking, while laying flat down in my bed I saw the face of a man, still clear 30 years later, it was disembodied hovering above me, a bearded man in his thirties with a sad lonely look on his face. I stared at it for a solid 5 seconds, before finally being able to close my eyes and prey for it to go away. When I opened them again the face was gone, only a tall shadow remained in the hall way that then descended into the floor in an instant.
I have never doubted people's claims after my own experience, and largely kept it to myself, I lived in the house another 9 years, but once in bed I stayed there. Whatever that thing was, it owned the night.

Fast forward to early March 2008 my wife, son, and I are vacationing in a new resort in Branson MO. We stayed in a 3 bedroom lake house that was very well made, and yet made me feel uncomfortable. My son did not want to sleep alone so my wife went into the room he was using, I was by myself in the upstairs bedroom for the first time (The previous three nights 3 other family members shared this room). I turned in about 10pm at midnight I was awakened by a pressure on my chest and hands, I know about the night terror thing, I've heard it in science articles, I'm not even thinking of that. What concerns me is what happened after I was wide awake. I am sitting up in the bed looking at the room and I notice the lamp is casting a shadow, not a concern at first, then I realize the shadow is going towards the light. I stare at it and as I start to get up, the shadow does the same super fast dive I saw 30 years before, this time into an empty closet. My first thought was to check on my wife and son. As I entered the room they were in, my wife woke up, called me a moron for being concerned and said she was going to sleep in the nice bed, I should have went with her, but she ticked me off at that moment more than the shadow. So off she went into the bedroom I had just recently vacated. Within five minutes she came in with me and said were driving home right then and there. It took her five days to tell what she saw, but it was a shadow that went back and forth across the bed then dashed into the closet. Then her sister told her that when she stayed in the room her son slept outside on the veranda, despite the cold, because something kept kicking him. She thought he was just being a teenager.

I've now had two experiences, of the type most never have, the first time it terrified me, the second time I was willing to face it. If you every need help let me know. I can face these things again, and I am ready to learn more about them through direct investigation.
