Experiencing strange events?
Think your home may be haunted? Experiencing strange events in your home can be very unsettling and sometimes out right frightening. At times you may think that you’re the only one experiencing these types of events. Rest assured that you are not alone and that the event you are dealing with may have logical explanations.
Some symptoms of a haunting are as follows. Keep in mind that for every one of the symptoms listed here there can also be a logical explanation.
· Do you continually lose objects only to have them reappear later in an area you already searched?
· Do pets seem to be reacting to something you can’t see?
· Do electrical appliances turn on and off by themselves?
· Have you heard your name called when no one is home?
· Have you heard footsteps in the house when you are alone?
· Do you experience loud noises from an unseen source?
· Do you have a strong sense of a presence but see nothing?
· Do you seem movement or even shadows out of the corner of your eye?
· Have you witnessed doors open and close by themselves?
· Do certain areas of the home feel unusually cold?
· Have any members of the family used an Oujia board or similar item in the house?
· Do photographs taken in the home appear with unexplainable white mists or orbs?
· Have there been any tragic events in the house or on the grounds?
Experiencing one of the symptoms above, does not make your home haunted. Each of the signs might have an innocent explanation. What should you do if you are experiencing the above symptoms? Should you call in a priest, or is it better to put your house up for sale and start shopping around for a new place to call home? Not at all. Do your best to find a rational explanation for what is happening. Many events, originally thought to be the creations of ghosts, end up with perfectly reasonable explanations.
There are steps that you can take to find peace of mind. Examine these items before seeking help, the electricity, plumbing, and floorboards. The home could be settling. Opening and closing doors could be faulty hinges, latches or caused by drafts. Shadows could be just that, shadows. Check outside; see how cars lights play on your windows. Are there tree branches touching your home? Are vents properly vented and covered as to not let small animals get into the home?
You say you’ve done all of the above and can’t find any rational explanation and you still feel you have a ghost? I recommend documenting the events that are occurring in the home, keep a journal. Include in your journal.
- Date, time and place of event.
- Are there any witnesses to the event?
- Who else was in the home at the time?
- Describe the event in detail?
- What were you doing just before the event happened?
To help with your peace of mind you can sometimes speak out loud to the spirits and politely ask them to leave you, your family, and your home in peace. Sometimes that is all that is necessary to bring the undesired paranormal activity to a halt. Do not to be afraid. Simply tell them that you acknowledge their presence. Ask them to please follow some rules, such as not to open and close doors, leave electrical appliances alone, etc. Do not to shout at, curse, or antagonize a ghost in any way, as this is likely to only upset an anger the ghost, thus worsening the situation for you and your family. You can live with a ghost if you remember, that they were, at one time, a physical human being, and still are very much a living soul.
