HAUNTED HOME IN KENT, OH

I lived in a house in Kent Ohio for 6 months in 1983. It stands on Ravenna Road near the Kent end, across from a park (I think it was a park), and near train tracks and a kind of swampy area. Driving from Hudson the house is on the right hand side of the road. The new owners painted it a kind of tan/brown. It has a large front porch. It was built probably around 1900. I do not have the address.

I knew it was haunted the first night I slept there when I thought something had entered my room. I felt a presence nearly all the time in the house. I had incredible expereinces in that house and told lots of people about them, and a few of my friends also had paranormal experiences there.

Once I was in the basement and heard voices upstairs and actually ran up thinking it was my friends but the house was empty. I had heard a group talking for at least 5 minutes. Another time, I was upstairs alone, I heard footsteps walk from the back of the house, through the house up the stairs (at my left) and I expected to see the homeowner but there was no one there but the steps came right up, went right in front of me (in a narrow hallway in which I was sitting) and into a room (on my right). I literally followed the steps with my eyes.

The best stories though are of receiving actual objects from this ghost-both times with other people present. One was actually moving when my girlfriend and I spotted it (an old wooden top) on the floor. The other -a die (dice/die) appeared in the middle of the floor when a friend and I were sitting there talking. We had been in the room no more than 5 minutes and we both looked down and there was this huge old ivory die (singular) sitting about two feet away in the middle of the room. I said "Wow, look at that" --I was so into it because I knew this house was haunted and I loved the whole thing, I said "thank you" to the ghost and put the die on my shelf. My friend however freaked out and had to leave the room. He would not go upstairs again. What was cool was that I was at that time setting up my room and looking for things to decorate it with. I had been rummaging through the attic where there was tons of old stuff left there since the early 1900s. I displayed these two objects on a shelf in my room and the guy that owned the house noticed them a few weeks later and said the die had been his grandmothers. He never even asked me where I got it.

He was the only one not aware of the stuff going on in the house-he would get pissed if you brought it up. I visited him months after moving out and his dog freaked out, growling at the dark room next to us and then ran out. When he came back he walked in an obvious circle around the center of the room where we were. The owner had grown up in the house-he never even noticed the dogs behavior happening right in front of him, he just kept on talking.

My friends had experiences there and we finally raised these stories with an older guy that rented a room there and it turned out that the place had a history of hauntings. He was told by a psychic that the house was haunted by a little girl. A band practiced there and a famous tale was of a musician using the bathroom and passing a couch where a little girl was asleep. Later he asked who's kid was that he had seen and of course no one had a child there.

The presence I felt was frightening only once, when it was right in my face in the dark. Interestingly, I do not know where the two objects are. I displayed them in my subsequent homes and then I packed them up when I moved overseas. When I returned they were no longer among my belongs.

I have driven by that house many times since living there and I often wonder if the new owners have had experiences. I am sure they have. There were many stories of people seeing the ghost of a little girl there.
